About the program…

Twelve Limina is year-long creative practice and exploration of Jungian depth psychology for an intimate community of women, meeting both online and in-person.

Each month we will pass through a different threshold into a constellation of archetypes, creative practices, wisdom lineages and inspirations. We will explore the work of other artists while building on our own body of work, focusing on personal transformation and falling in love with the creative process. No previous experience is necessary…just curiosity, willingness and an open mind.

How is it unique?

  • The design of the program itself. Twelve Limina is a carefully sequenced framework that guides participants in a way that supports the creative process, transformation, healing, and integration. While the constellations are already envisioned, it is facilitated such that plans can reorganize to make way for what wants to emerge for the group.

  • Immersion. The program is not casual or cursory, but an immersive experience in creative expression. It is a total reorientation to soul and imagination and their generative, life-affirming powers.

  • An experiential, hands-on approach to depth psychology through creativity. Twelve Limina dynamically layers creative practice, facilitated learning, storytelling, personal reflection, and community engagement.

  • Hybrid offering. The program unfolds through a series of live online gatherings, in-person gatherings, pre-recorded sessions and supplemental materials. Most programs of this nature only have an online component. In-person gathering adds an irreplaceable element to the experience.

  • Celebrates and centers women’s creativity. This program supports sisterhood and the unique experiences of women. Participation is open to women. It is also devoted to exploring the work of female creatives and scholars. It additionally brings focus to oft-neglected or misunderstood feminine archetypes.

  • Creativity for creativity’s sake. The emphasis is not on making impressive art (though that can be an outcome!), but on discovery and liberation through the process of expression. We will be exploring many forms of creativity—from visual art to writing to movement and more.

  • Guest teachers add dimension. While most of the program will be facilitated by one guide, it will periodically feature guest teachers to share their areas of expertise.

  • Expand through experimentation. The limina are creative laboratories where you will build a repertoire of life-changing practices.

Weekday Zoom gatherings are also a possibility if it is the preference of the group. These 1 -2 hour gatherings will occur twice a month. On months with an in-person gathering, there will be only 1 online gathering. Attendance is encouraged but not mandatory. Zoom gatherings will be recorded for those unable to attend.

  • In-person gatherings. The group will meet for a total of 4 in-person gatherings during the year. A light meal and all needed supplies will be included. These gatherings will occur at various locations in San Diego County.

  • Access to our online classroom & discussion board. An online learning platform with an app component will store weekly videos, communication, and feature a discussion board for staying connected.

  • Weekly offering. Every Monday a video (or audio recording) and/or PDF(s) will be shared in the online classroom, specially tailored for themes arising for our community. This offering might include a combination of the following: exploring the week’s themes/concepts, sharing creative practices/prompts, providing artist case studies/inspiration, telling a story/myth. The weekly offering may also include short readings and/or film, website, podcast, or music recommendations.

  • Discussion & participation. Participants are encouraged to share a simple creative piece and/or reflection each week and engage with each other’s submissions. Suggested prompts will be offered on Mondays with the weekly offering. The purpose of this is to foster community and learn through engagement with soul in its many forms. You will receive personal ongoing feedback from the program guide through the discussion board.

  • Guest teachers. Throughout the year, the program will periodically feature guest teachers on various topics of expertise such as poetry, herbal alchemy, aromatherapy, magic, divination, somatic practice, visual art and more.

  • LAGNIAPPE principle.  Lagniappe is a Louisiana Creole/French term originally shared with me by Selah Saterstrom of Four Queens Divination. It roughly translates as “a little something extra”—a small bonus, generosity, or kindness beyond what was purchased or expected.
